Original drawings in charcoal and mixed media by the highly acclaimed wildlife artist Pascale Rentsch ASWLA. Pascale Rentsch was born in Thun, Switzerland, at the foothills of the Alps. She attended the Higher School of Art in Zurich (1995-96) before deciding to follow her instinct to study drawing and painting in the UK. She graduated from the Edinburgh College of Art in 1999 and was appointed as Artist in Residence at the Edinburgh Zoo in the year 2000, and Artist in Residence at George Watson’s College, Edinburgh, from 2000-2002.

Rentsch has long been obsessed with drawing, filling her sketchbooks with drawings of everything that inspires her. She thrives on immediate contact with her subjects, reacting to them on a one to one basis with energy and life. She enjoys screen printing, drawing and painting in conjunction with exploring a selection of different materials and techniques to create her final pieces.

Pascale has been invited to several conservation based projects and is also a fully qualified Art and Design teacher winning the prize for most promising Art and Design teacher.

In September 2005, she was invited onto the Artist for Nature Foundation ‘Wind Mill’ Project in the Netherlands

October 2004, invited onto The Society of Wildlife Artists ‘Aig on Oir’ Project based on the west cost of Scotland, producing a body of work for a forthcoming exhibition and book, to be published and exhibited at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh in Summer 2005. Part of this project includes running and organising workshops within the local community.

July 2001, as part of winning the Artist for Nature Foundation prize in 2001, I was invited onto the ANF ‘Spanish Pyrenees’ project, producing work for a book, exhibition and video entitled ‘Mature Forests’ produced in 2002.

February 2000, invited onto the Society of Wildlife Artists ‘New Forest’ project, book and exhibition produced in September 2000 and Spring 2004.

October 1998 and July 1999, Minsmere RSPB Reserve, Suffolk. Invited to work with seven other artists on two ‘Society of Wildlife Artists’ projects that involved screen printing and hand designing two limited hand made books within the space of a week for each book.

Isaac Howitt Award for the most promising Art and Design teacher August 2003-July 2004, Won The Artist for Nature Foundation Award in 2001, The Society of Wildlife Artists Bursary for travel and education 1997 and 1998, Elected as an Associate member of the Society of Wildlife Artists in 2000.

Exhibited annually at the SWLA exhibition at the Mall Galleries from 1997. Invited to exhibit at Edinburgh Zoo 2003 and 2004, Artist in Residence zoo exhibition 2000, Gallery 41, Edinburgh solo and mixed exhibitions from 1999- 2001, Solo exhibition Sugarhouse Gallery Newtown St. Boswells, November 1999, Auchterarder 1999, Seabird Centre Exhibition, Stenton Gallery 1998.
